Design to Innovation introduced the World’s First Wireless Scanner Mouse: Zcan Wireless

Design to Innovation (DTOI) has announced a campaign on Indiegogo (#indiegogo) to help complete the development of Zcan Wireless, the world’s first wireless scanner mouse. The funding went from $24,000 to $90,000 which pushing to over 300% in 3 days. Zcan is a scanner integrated into a wireless mouse; represents a new and unique way of scanning documents, books, magazines, and more, by allowing users to easily swipe in a zigzag motion across what they want to capture.

Zcan Wireless can scan the portions of the areas users want, meaning they no longer have to scan the entire page like they would with a traditional scanner. Users can scan anything from a receipt, a recipe to photos and nutritional information printed in a foreign language. Scanned information becomes searchable, meaning users can get rid of their paper versions and box files with backup copies.

“Our Wireless Scanner Mouse is about the same size and weight as a regular mouse,” said Sam Ng, business development director, DTOI. “And with Wi-Fi, users can install it on almost any device including iPad and iPhone!”
Features:
• Scan to Table – Zcan supports powerful scanning and editing features which can convert an entire table into one single sheet in Excel.
• Scan to Text – Use Zcan to edit scanned text, which is much faster than typing it entirely from scratch.
• Break Down Language Barrier – Zcan supports over 199 OCR (Optical Character Recognition) languages. With an Internet connection to Google Translate, drag the scanned paragraph into the dialogue box where it is then translated into a different language instantly. It even reads you the paragraph.
• Evernote – Zcan helps to track things like notes, letters or any important notices and store them in Evernote with just one click.
• Photos – Zcan allows users to share any scans with family or friends instantly through Facebook, Twitter, Flickr or email.
• Specifications – Sensor: Optical sensor 1000cpi / Buttons: 3 + Dedicated Scan / Resolution: Up to 400dpi / Scan size: Up to A3 (Upon memory configuration) / USB Port: 2.0 / Wireless Scanning: IEEE802.11n, g / Wireless Mouse: 2.4GHz Digital Channel.

First Ever Dual Screen Super Tablet/Laptop

With an extraordinary prototype for a dual screen tablet/laptop, Allotropes Design is in development of the AURUS Diamond Dual 10.1. In need of funding to bring the ultimate convenience in multi-tasking to the marketplace, the computer is categorized as both a tablet and a laptop because while the design is all laptop, its two screens fully function independently similar to a tablet. “This computer is the only one of its kind in the world.” said Joshua Letcher, CEO of Allotropes Design. “We will be the first to offer a computer with two 10.1” touch screens in full HD. Soon people will be able to check their email on one screen and manage their stocks or play a game on the other.”

The busy person’s dream, the Android tablet/laptop AURUS Diamond Dual 10.1 needs every pledge of support available to bring the idea to the marketplace. In development from the ground up in partnership with manufacturers for the past twelve months, Allotropes Design is now ready to release the product globally.

“We’ve offered quite a few benefits to the people who pledge to the project. And we will fulfill the Indiegogo pledges first, so supporting us on our crowdfunding page is the best route to take right now to get the AURUS introductory pricing.” added Letcher.

While the AURUS is highly anticipated, if sufficient funding is not received it will hit the market at a considerably higher price, at a much later time, with less features and be released to geographic locations.

Back Thru the Future Announces On-Site Hard Drive Shredding

Back Thru the Future (BTTF), the leading technology disposal company, has announced the availabilty of its on-site hard drive shredding service, designed for the demands of industries with stringent data privacy regulations, including healthcare and finance. A state-of-the-art custom shred vehicle, dubbed The Predator, allows BTTF to extend its Safe Harbor Express directly to its client locations throughout the eastern U.S.

The launch of the on-site service affirms BTTF’s commitment to the highest standards of regulatory compliance, environmental sustainability and auditability.

“This is the most significant capital investment in our 20-plus year history,” said Melanie Haga, CEO and founder of Back Thru the Future. “It was important to us that bringing the shredding capability to our client’s location doesn’t in any way compromise the rigor and integrity of the secure data destruction process. We have taken the time and made the investment to design a vehicle and a process that are second to none in providing secure, auditable compliance with all data privacy and environmental regulations.”

Since current New Jersey regulations prohibit mobile hard drive shredding, BTTF will continue its in-plant shredding operations for that state, while enhancing services to clients in all other states.

“We have submitted a request to the New Jersey DEP to allow us to begin on-site shredding within the state,” Haga said. “We’re cautiously optimistic that they will approve this service, which is rapidly becoming the industry standard throughout the rest of our service area.” Upon approval, Haga said, BTTF is in a position to immediately provide on-site hard drive shredding within the State of New Jersey.

Try before you buy with South East Labels

South East Labels (SEL), the West Sussex label provider, now allows customers to try out products before purchasing them. This marketing initiative allows interested buyers to test the quality of a product before finalising a purchase.

Storeowners are often hesitant to upgrade their labelling systems, because there is no guarantee that a newer system will be more expedient. This leaves cashiers with out-dated scanners and verifiers that rarely scan on the first attempt.

Annoyed customers are then forced to stand in long queues waiting for the faulty system to register a reading – a problem most evident in grocery stores where it’s possible for a single customer to purchase over 100 items, which must each be scanned individually.

SEL’s “try before you buy” approach to labelling products removes the risk of upgrading to a system that’s incompatible with a storeowner’s needs. If storeowners are unhappy with the quality of a product, then they can try another or simply retain the system that they have.

When it comes to label manufacturers UK companies rarely offer such a transparent approach to sales. But the people at SEL are confident that their products work, and they express this belief by allowing potential buyers to try new items.

It is likely that more label companies will follow SEL’s lead in the near future. Customers like to know what they are buying, and this is especially relevant when the efficiency of their businesses is at stake.

Its thin and light design means it’s a Powerhouse PC with the portability of a tablet. An Intel core i5 processor handles the most demanding of jobs with ease, allowing you to decide how you want to most comfortably input data on the Samsung Series 7 Slate, by either touching or writing on the screen, alternatively typing on the full-featured keyboard.

Small Businesses Have Printing Needs Met

South East Labels is focused on providing professional printing equipment to small businesses in 2012. Small companies starting up in the New Year will find accessible labelling and printing systems on offer from this label manufacturer. Based in West Sussex, it has been providing such services and equipment across the country since 1988.

As well as selling top brands’ products, South East Labels manufactures labels and can provide small businesses with a range of solutions to their printing needs. Retail businesses will find their barcode and scanning prayers answered!

The process is simple. Once GS1 UK has provided you with the numbers for your products, South East Labels can then do the label printing for you and provide all the barcode labels you require. Minimum fuss and maximum ease. For businesses that would like to manage the process in-house, South East Labels can also supply all the blank labels, label printers and software necessary.

Barcodes need to be printed professionally in order to be read properly by scanners. This is where South East Labels comes in. Staff members have years of experience in manufacturing labels, and therefore know all the tricks of the trade. These include printing barcode labels in the ‘picket fence’ style for high quality scans, and leaving enough blank space around the barcodes for interference-free scanning.

All of this detail can be daunting for new businesses, which is why South East Labels’ service is becoming more and more popular. Rather than having to do it all themselves, start-ups can take advantage of the expertise on offer. By concentrating on manufacturing labels for small businesses, South East Labels is making 2012 the year to simplify your printing process by placing it in experts’ hands.

OCZ solid state drives now available at BT Business Direct

Solid state drives (SSDs) from computer hardware manufacturer OCZ Technology are now available at BT Business Direct. The new Synapse Cache SSD, released late 2011, can add speed and higher performance to even older model PCs and so is gaining the most interest on a wide consumer market right now.

OCZ Technology releases new high-tech SSDs on regular bases, driving the innovation into every angle of SSD technology. This includes the new Synapse Cache series that enable any computer to enjoy the increased performance of SSD. This technology is independent from hardware, unlike others and can be used on any modern platform.

A standard SSD + HDD setup will make one program fast and the other slow, load one game quickly but the other lags off the scale. The OCZ Synapse cache SSD will integrate with the hard drive becoming one storage solution and dynamically manage the entire storage capacity of the hard drive. It is the typical example of ‘Best of Both World’; full capacity and full performance.

The Dataplex software makes the integration of SSD and HDD possible. The SSD stores‘hot’ data (files that are accessed often) on the high-speed SSD, while ‘cold’ data (files that are less-frequently accessed) are stored on the HDD. Once you have booted your PC with the OCZ Synapse SSD installed, it will start cache immediately. And after two or three reboots the fast responsiveness of the computer will start improving dramatically and the more it is used, the faster it will become.

Vivienne Kennedy, Category Manager of BT Business Direct said: “These SSDs are the ideal addition to any work or home PC and can help to improve running speeds and make accessing files a quick and easy job. We are very pleased to be able to stock them, but customers should buy now in order to avoid disappointment.”

Both the 64GB and 128GB versions of OCZ’s SSDs are available at BT Business direct now and retail at £87.49 and £134.16 respectively.

New High-Tech OCZ Solid State Drives Now Available At dabs.com

Computer technology retailer dabs.com has recently unveiled new stock of OCZ’s latest solid state drive (SSD), which is set to be the hottest SSD on the computing market this year.

Anyone who wants to increase the power and performance of their computer without having to complete a full upgrade should take a look at OCZ Technology’s new Synapse Cache Solid State Drives.

These SSDs use new Dataplex software that makes them totally unique – unlike most SSDs on the market right now they are designed to be used in conjunction with standard hard drives (HDD). This new Dataplex software increases the speed at which data can be cached, as well as overhauling the way that it is done.

In the past, using an SSD and an HDD at the same time could have actually slowed down the entire running of your home PC, unless you were willing to upgrade to a SATA HDD and use an external enclosure to make data transfer speeds faster. Many people still want to be able to take advantage of the large capacity of their HDD while also benefiting from fast processing with a SSD, and with the Synapse Cache SSD this is now possible.

Duncan Rutherford, Product Manager of dabs.com said: “We understand that customers don’t always have the time or money to perform a full upgrade of their PC just to be able to make use of their new solid state drive, so buying a new motherboard just isn’t possible.

“With the help of OCZ’s amazing new SSD, our customers can get exactly what they want out of their PC without having to spend anything extra.”

The Synapse Cache SSD works so well because it caches ‘hot’ data that is used often on the easy-to-access SSD, while ‘cold’ data is stored on the HDD. By the third time that you run your system with this SSD, all of the data will have been sorted, so you can begin reaping the rewards of the fast Dataplex technology.

dabs.com currently stocks the OCZ Synapse Cache Solid State Drives in 64GB (32GB cache capacity) and 128GB (64GB cache capacity), and both can be bought from the online shop now.

Axceleon Unveils Microsoft Azure Render Farms

Axceleon is actively demonstrating the Microsoft Azure integrated workflow rendering process and render farm to customers and prospects.

Axceleon has released CloudFuzion for Azure and is showing existing Media & Entertainment customers and prospects how easy it is to integrate existing studio workflows into a cloud based render farm on Microsoft Azure with no impact on the artist.

CloudFuzion is integrated with applications such as Autodesk Maya, 3dsMax, Softimage, Adobe After Effects and allows launching of image renders from the application directly to an Azure render farm anywhere in the world. CloudFuzion will move the scene, including any attributes or references, from the studio data repository to the Azure render farm and in turn will move the resulting rendered images back to the studio data repository as part of an automated workflow. The animator or artist is oblivious as to where the images are being processed or rendered.

Also released was a CloudFuzion implementation of a high performance cluster running on Microsoft Azure for use by power utility & energy companies worldwide.CloudFuzion is integrated with applications such as PSLF and SSTOOLS from General Electric Energy, and PSS®E from Siemens and these applications can be run on a CloudFuzion managed Azure cluster.

CloudFuzion is a workflow automation solution, no render wrangler required for media& entertainment industry, with color coded job status, a simple self-service user interface and also supports split frame/tiling and stitching of large 3dsMax and Maya images for further render acceleration along with processor affinity settings to maximize 3D application core usage by machine.

CloudFuzion also enables single threaded applications to use many cores in a multi-core machine or computer. This enhances the speed of processing and further improves the time to results, a major productivity tool for engineering studies and financial analysis.

For nearly 12 years, EnFuzion has been widely deployed in the energy, financial, bioinformatics, telecommunications, scientific research and engineering market segments, as well as for 3D rendering, where it helped users to get more results faster.

Green Fingers Get Sticky With Innovative New Labels

South East Labels, a Sussex-based labelling supply company, has introduced a new product line aimed at the horticultural market.

According to a spokesman, “Our ‘Loop Lock’ and ‘Stick-in’ labels are ideal for labelling your trees, shrubs and pots. We will be adding more horticultural products in the near future.”

Made from tough and resistant polypropylene, the ‘Loop Lock’ labels are almost impossible to tear. Also known as ‘Loop Holds’ or ‘Tree Ties’, the labels are supplied plain and can be printed on, using a thermal transfer printer, or simply written on, using a permanent marker. Because there is no adhesive, either side can be printed or written on. ‘Loop Locks’ are supplied in rolls of 1,000 and are available in two measurements: 25mm x 229mm or 25mm x 191mm.

‘Stick-ins’, also known as plant pot labels or pot markers, are made from 300-micron-thick polypropylene and are designed to withstand the rigors of British weather. ‘Stick-ins’ are supplied plain, allowing gardeners to print on them, using either a thermal transfer printer or a permanent marker.

These new additions further bolster the company’s impressive range of horticultural products. Interested consumers can try a free sample of polypropylene, ‘Loop Lock’ or ‘Stick-in’ labels by contacting the company via its website.
